“As a child, illustrated books fascinated me. I remember rushing into the library and bolting to the YA horror section. While paranormal was my favorite, I also loved the classic fairytales and stories of nonsense by Hans Christian Andersen and Lewis Carroll. I studied the works of Golden Age illustrators like Arthur Rackam and Kay Nielsen. These works are all illustrations from stories I’ve written; a collection of illustrated short stories that I hope may one day find themselves on a library shelf. Artist Bio: “I am a native of Colorado Springs and an award-winning illustrator. My work is riddled with symbolism and inspired by life experiences, mental health, astrology, folklore, history, and dark curiosities. When I am not writing or illustrating, I’m teaching my love of illustration to children and knee-deep in the chaos and charm of everyday life: raising two spectacularly creative children, rummaging through antique and thrift shops with my BFF/husband.” -April Lavely-Robinson Join us on October 2nd from 5–9 p.m. for a night of art and community!
