Homeschool Program: Solar System, The Inner Planets Monday, October 19 10:30 – 11:45am Our Solar System, the Inner Planets will be a show all about the diverse set of smaller, solid rocky worlds which inhabit the inner portion of our solar system, aka The First Four Today’s Homeschool Program will focus on the inner planets, which are a wealth of science knowledge. The science we know from living on Earth can be found on other planets, and we learn things about our home world as we continue to learn more about the other planets in our solar system. Join Dr. Dan Polsgrove, Astronomer, Planetarium educator and former Astronomy professor here at the Academy, for a detailed discussion of the inner solar system. This will include talk of Earth’s Place in the Universe, the nature and composition of each inner planet, what makes each unique, and some of the missions humans have sent to these worlds to learn more through spacecraft, robotic landers, and rovers! In addition to the Live portion of the show, the inner planets portion of two of our films, Worlds Beyond Earth and Oasis in Space will be included.
